I found this gorgeous book this weekend at our local library called
Kimonos by Annelore Parot. The illustrations are at once charming and vibrant. The patterns adorning their kimonos are so playful, I'd love to get my hands on them for skirts and pillows. And it's the littlest detail, but I can't get enough of the kokeshi clothing tag on the side of the cover and the red fabric stripe with the book title.
Dianna keeps thumbing through the book and pointing out different Kokeshi characters. "Pretty!" she keeps exclaiming.
Kokeshi Kimonos introduces children to Japanese Kokeshi culture and its bubbly personalities and dress. And I love the little Japanese language lessons I've picked up too, like the days of the week. Today, Monday, is getsuyou.
Hope you're having a wonderful getsuyou.
