Oregon

After our very mini vacation to California last weekend, I'm still reeling from the excitement of being away. It brought me back to pictures from a trip to Oregon that Chris and I took solo for a wedding. It was so nice to get away, enjoy a hot tub (which is a requirement for Chris in any hotel; he calls ahead and makes sure it's in working order sometimes), dress up for each other, and discover a new city or two.

As we were driving to a little farming island, we came upon the Roloff Farm--the same Roloff's from the TLC show Little People, Big World. At the time, they had a pumpkin patch with a petting zoo, food stands, a gift barn, and a tour pulled along by a tractor.

The reason we were actually there was a wedding for Chris' college buddy Chase, who married his beautiful bride Julie. If I hadn't gotten married on a beach, this woodsy feel would've been my next choice.

I was excited to have coffee with them the next day before they flew off to Orlando for a Disney World honeymoon. Have you ever had butter beer? Apparently, it's pretty good.

From there, we explored Portland. We went to the Portland Saturday Market, Voodoo Doughnut (which we could have skipped), Powell's (amazing), Portland City Grill (gorgeous views and great happy hour deals, but I've had better food), and finally Salt & Straw (I could go there over and over and over again).

The best part about these places is that we walked everywhere except to Salt & Straw, which was a drive away. And if you consider skipping Salt & Straw because it's a little out of the way, don't. Chris and I still dream about their ice cream. We had Caramel Apple and Cheddar Cheese, which was delicious. They have more typical flavors as well, but you made it all the way there--why would you have those?

The next morning, we missed our flight and I lost my wallet, but that's a whole other story for another day.
