Art and the Neon Boneyard
The Neon Boneyard in Las Vegas is a museum of the city's old neon signs. I think that it was renamed the Neon Museum, but old habits die hard. We made a visit there this last weekend for the drop-in art activity sponsored by Nevada Children's Outdoor Bill of Rights. For the art activity, we were given scrapbook paper, pipe cleaners, adhesive-backed pearls, and markers. The objective was to create our own neon sign that advertised other outdoor activities in Nevada. We chose to advertise Calico Basin, because we love hiking there.
Here's how our sign turned out.
When we used to hike all the time. All at once, I'm taken by the urge to go hiking and by the change we've undergone since having children. A hike is needed, maybe even for Earth Day!
